A shabby chic experience, or not?

So its been a few days since last. Yes, I know I said I would post the day after visiting Linneas Hage....but life interfered. So walking up to store, my heart was beating a little faster. I am exited to find new treasures and get new ideas. The store is really beautiful, not very big..but big enough not to feel claustrophbic, hehe. I am gonna say this...the store is expensive. Maybe not to everyone, but most. I noticed they sell a quite popular bracelet with headskulls for over 900kr, when I saw another design store sell them for less then 500kr. Hmmm, whos taking the most comission here I may ask. So needless to say I was dissapointed because of their prices. But hey, someone is managing having her own design store-so go girl!

I may add, i love a good bargain! Maybe thats why i found it so dissapointing?

Did manage to come up with new ideas, its a lot of fun.

In the midst of life that happend this week, iv managed to make another decoupage vase. Used my favorite shabby chic style fabric, and did my job and created a beautiful vase. A vase I had actually considered giving away..but I created this instead.

As always when my thoughts are creative, I manage to forget to take a before pic, hehe. So I think I will add that I will try next time...and I do mean try...... Its always so much nicer to look at one. When I remember thinking the same when I see beautiful creatings that are shown as the finish picture and people didnt put a pic of how the item looked to start with, I dont get so exited when I see the finished product. So people, this WAS a very unimaginitive white vase(i like white vases) without any special charm. BOORING! I am happy with the finality.

Until next time.

Quietness-Time for some creativity

So yesterday was an ordinary day, just like any other. So I have had a spaghetti glass container that I have been wanting to try and decoupage. Now keep in mind this is my first time decoupaging on a glass jar. I was positive and creative, hehe. Some days before I had cut out nice pics from an old magazine(I picked up from freecycle) http//www.livingetc.com/

So here is my project in its glory

So I just addes some Elmers glue/or decoupage glue(its all the same really) to the back of each picture and pasted, pressed and tried to get the creases out. Then used the glue on top off all the pictures after I was done. Noticed a bit into the project that its better to use the larger pieces and adding the smaller detailed pics on top of them. Now keep in mind this is my first one. I am happy with the final project. Its my new pen and pencil holder I think, since I dont own one right now. What do you all think?

I went shopping at an antique shop

Østlandske Auksjon og Handel-Tordenskiolds gate Strømsø

Unfortunatly they dont own a website, which I think is unheard of these days. So you see how it took me almost 1 year to find these guys.

Its a little expensive, but on their second floor they have rooms filled with beautiful pillow cases, comfort covers, old tablecloths, lace and crochet items.

My eyes quickly fell onto a beautiful comfort cover and pillow case to match, but I immediatly thought that too would be pretty expensive. Considering their prices. So when I found out the price, I almost died. Well, not literally.....Only 30 kr, which is about 5 USD-Amazing if you ask me. They were "LIKE NEW" still crisp and unused. Aren't they pretty????

Tomorrow I am visiting a new shop I happend to stumble upon while driving to the mall. I never went in, but tomorrow I will explore the store and soak it all up.
Tell you all about it tomorrow.
Chiao.

English or Norwegian??

So its taken me some time to start this blog-all because I havent decided if I should write in English or Norwegian? Sigh, you should think it wouldn't be such a hard decision?

But it could be a problem?

A little background history:

I just recently moved back to small Norway from living in the USA for 21 years. I have become quite experienced in reuse and finding free things, as a matter of fact it drives me. I have though become used to bigger things, and finding what your looking for is NEVER impossible. I am used to people making it easy for you, by putting things they dont want on their curb outside their homes, for people to take. Its fun. You never know what you'll find driving your kids to school. Or the give aways on Craigslist (an online website much like finn.no), or becoming a member at your online freecycle site. I have given away lots of unwanted things, and picked up quite a few as well. When I came to Norway, i discovered it wasnt quite as big of a market here as in the US. Dissappointing! I will say though, I have managed to find a few places here as well, but not half as much opportunities. I find myself constantly googling used stores in our local areas, who's having auctioning, when is the next fleamarket etc etc. Found out that in Norway fleamarkets are dead in the winter, so It seems it only happens when the snow dissappears. Cant wait for that!!! I am going crazy around here. We do have a big recycle place only about 10 min away, and they have 2 large containers with give aways. What a treat! They got everything from books, clothes, glassware, furniture etc etc. I love pulling up there and seeing its full of things.

The funniest thing about this whole thing , is that my car(Ford Fiesta) is the tiniest car in the world. I still manage to fit most of the things I want to bring home into it, hehe. It may take me a little while, but you get the idea. I am determined when it comes to my treasures. I actually fit two of the large sitting chairs in pic below, I couldnt leave without them.

Here are some of those beautiful things I'v found there.

I am planning on re-doing some of the furniture pieces I have found, so look for new updated pics in later post.
